The Start of the "Hardcore University Life"

Monday, Sept. 4:
Ah, the sweet smell of the first day of College... first day of classes, that is. What was even sweater was the smell of my pillow as I knew there was no rush to wake up early since my first class started at 3 p.m. I guess I would have slept in if I were normal, but being the freak that I am, I woke up at 7:30 a.m. Pauli and I had breakfast, then everyone headed to their early morning classes except for me. I went back to my room to enjoy a little bit of solitude since I'm sometimes a privacy junkie. Of course, I already had everything planned out. I wanted to apply for the position of Student Admissions Assistant, so I sat down to write my resume and cover letter (thank you, university admissions process and College Life elective - I actually knew how to write both of these; thank you English classes for teaching me the art of business letters - yay!). Writing took some time, yet that was mainly because I wanted my application to be as good as possible. By 3 p.m., I was done, and happilly walked over to my first university class ever: Principles of Writing II. Everyone who's already been through college probably remembers every class starting with the words, "This is not going to be an easy class. You'll need to work very hard, and you won't get many 'A'-s because a perfect grade means you've reached the level of your professors, and that's nigh impossible at this point in time." The Principles of Writing II class will be mostly researching resources and writing (omg omg!!) research papers (bless ACS for making us write tons of those; bless NoodleTools as well...nooo, I'm never gonna use that website... nope... lol). Anyway, that class ended quickly and rather painlessly, and then I went to my second class for the day, Intercultural Communications. The professor is absolutely amazing – she is so enthusiastic and has a great sense of humor. I think I’m really going to enjoy the subject; we’ll have many discussions as well as more creative projects (ok, and lots of reading…). My second class is a double session, so it went from 4:30 p.m. till 7:50 p.m. with a 30 minute dinner break. Of course, the day certainly didn’t end with that class…. It was in the evening that the most extreme event happened! :D

The Incident (Which Thankfully Didn’t Turn into a Serious Accident)

So.. After all classes, our entire newly-formed gang got together in a small inner court yard of the University and started chatting about random things. There was only one guy with us, Mahmud, a.k.a. Pharaoh (he’s Egyptian). Being the only boy in the company of 6 girls, he was the laughing stock of the group all night. We were having so much fun and were being obnoxiously loud, like normal college students should be ;) None of us were drinking, but we sounded pretty drunk. The table and the courtyard were conveniently surrounded by dorms, and almost every window to every dorm room was open, and we could hear that everyone was having wild parties over our heads. We were concerned about making a bit too much noise, and started joking about someone throwing something heavy at us just to make us shut up… While we were cracking up on yet another amazingly entertaining topic, our laughter was interrupted by a moment of total confusion and the sound of something breaking to pieces right next to us!! Whatever that was hit me in the elbow (only lightly, though), and then threw small ceramic pieces and some sort of liquid all over us. All the girls were in shock, and we all screamed like crazy! What we thought was a joke had actually come true – someone had thrown something at us!! And that could have killed one of us had it been a direct hit… Naturally, we went into a state of girly hysteria, and about 12 seconds later a guy came down and asked us if we were ok. He was as stressed as could be! “Oh my God, I’m so sorry, you guys! It was an accident! I was holding my mug in my hand and then it… *pant, pant*.. slipped off my hand! Oh my God! Sorryyyy!” When we realized it was all an accident (and believe me, it took us some time to believe that), we told the guy to relax now, but then another guy came, also totally freaked out – apparently our screams were heard all over the school. He told us to stay where we were because Ben and the security were going to come to us. Ben is the residential advisor (he’s a student) for that part of the dorms. We hadn’t met him before… but when he came, he was darn hot! He looked worried and all, but was wearing cute pj’s with small grizzly bears… :) Incredibly hot… He asked us what happened, and that’s when Pharaoh came in use since he was the only one who wasn’t speechless from seeing a hot guy in pj’s late in the evening… The girls and I were all nodding our heads, saying we were fine, but looking in one direction only. Yep, drooling forever. So that’s how Ben came to our rescue… aawww. We were still a bit shocked from the mug assault, yet we were all cuddled up on the inside :P Ben told us to go inside the common room, which we did, but had to leave soon cause we were laughing too loudly again :) We left the room and sat on the front porch on Montford House, a close-to-campus dorm house. Imagine that, a student shouted at us to be quiet again! We were so obnoxious, but, oh, so happy!! Yeah, we went to bed pretty soon after that. It was a night to remember.

Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 5 and 6: Those days were pretty boring compared to Monday. Tuesday is my day off any classes, so it was perfect. Today (Wednesday) I had Principles of Writing again, and Photography – I’m loving the photography course, as well as the professor, she’s really sweet.

The first three days of university life were perfect! Oh, as for the job, I’m having an interview tomorrow! Hopefully it’s all going to work out... and if it does, I’ll make £5.35 per hour! Yay!

I’m loving everything so far. I’m very happy and am getting freaky to the max! Love you all! Later!
